Value Others as Greater

So then, if you are bringing your offering to the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar, go and be reconciled with your brother first, and then come back and present your offering.
Mt.5:23,24

Jesus, in his Sermon on the Mount, comes quickly to the problem of anger. Right relationships are paramount to any sacrificial offering.

Reconciliation is something beautiful whether between individuals, families or even nations. It involves one party reaching out and starting the process. It involves the word sorry. It was world news in 1990 when East Germany's first freely elected parliament made its first business to apologise to the Jews for the Nazi led holocaust.

Saint Paul writes "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves" Ph.2:3 This stops anger in its tracks. It can be my mantra for today.

Jesus, you want to help me become perfect. Help me rid selfish ambition and vain conceit from my life.
Saint Philip Neri, please pray for me.
