A Friend of God

In each generation she passes into holy souls, she makes them friends of God and prophets; for God loves only the man who lives with Wisdom.
Ws.7:27,28

Soloman attempts to describe the nature of Wisdom, the Holy Spirit of God. With soaring language he portrays a being both omnipotent and intimate. Someone who makes us the friends of God.

“Oh to be a friend of God” has been a cry of the ages. I remember during my conversion experience coming to this realisation, that I , broken imperfect me, can be a friend of God. Suddenly God was no longer a God to fear but a God to love.

My friendship with God doesn’t stop with me. It transforms my relationship with everyone, all those made in the image of God. Today I can be friends with everyone I meet.

Lord Jesus. You know that not all people are friendly to God. You experienced that first hand. Help me be steadfast in my friendship to those I encounter today.

We will be Changed

Death is swallowed up in victory. Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting? Now the sting of death is sin, and sin gets its power from the Law. So let us thank God for giving us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1Cor.15:55,56

Saint Paul quotes from the prophet Hosea to give hope to the Church in Corinth concerning the end of time. We believers will not die but will be changed.

I have had the wonderful privaledge of hearing both my parents confess their faith in God while on their death beds. For my mother it was a death bed conversion, so all the more wonderful. What a source and peace and joy today, knowing that death is has not the final say. Jesus has the final say and he says I bring you life and life in its fullness. Alleluia!

Jesus, you rose from the dead, the first of many to follow. I pray for Mum and Dad. May your mercy triumph over judgement that they may rush into your loving embrace.
Little Flower, please pray for us.
