Let's Hang Out

‘Do you want to be well again?’ ‘Sir,’ replied the sick man ‘I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is disturbed; and while I am still on the way, someone else gets there before me.’ Jesus said, ‘Get up, pick up your sleeping-mat and walk.’ The man was cured at once, and he picked up his mat and walked away.    Jn.5:6-8

Jesus is in Jerusalem and sees a a long-term invalid alone and unable to walk.  The cripple was in a hopeless situation. Alone, always missing out and with no chance of healing. Jesus instantly and miraculously heals him.

Jesus heals in many different ways. Sometimes people beg and shout for healing, sometimes people are silent but friends and family petition on their behalf. In this instance Jesus simply walks up unbidden and POW, heals the man instantly.

There's no set formula with Jesus. There's no ritual to follow, no difficult act of devotion, sometimes no devotion at all. The initiative is always his. How do I relate to a God like this? Just love him and follow him and talk with him and walk with him. Just hang out with him I guess. Invite him into my day and hang out with him.

Jesus, sometimes... no, often I put you in a box and open and close the lid when I feel like it. I invite you out of the box. I'd like to hang out with you today.
Little Flower, please pray for me.
