Mary's visit to Elizabeth becomes the first earthly acknowledgement, apart from Mary's, of God's incarnation. It involves leaping with joy and loud acclamation.

Elizabeth's and her unborn baby's reactions are spontaneous and joyful. I recall my first discovery of Jesus was also joyfully spontaneous. He has that sort of effect. Sombre restraint is the opposite and I find myself in that mood when I'm feeling distant from him. 

Guess who has moved? Not Jesus.

Lord Jesus, I turn back to you today. Give me spontaneous joy to acclaim you.
Saint Elizabeth, please pray for me.
