Boldness and Courage

The members of the Sanhedrin all looked intently at Stephen, and his face appeared to them like the face of an angel.    

Acts.6:15

Stephen has been working great miracles in Jesus' name, gaining the attention of the Sanhedrin.  He is arrested with false charges and made to appear before the court. Rather than being fearful, Stephen appears radiant.

This man is facing death and yet he appears to have the face of an angel. The Holy Spirit is in him, prompting him as to what to say. Like Peter, the Holy Spirit gives Stephan boldness and courage.

Boldness and courage. These are among the first fruits of the Holy Spirit, especially when proclaiming the Good News of Jesus. Our first Alpha leaders team meeting is tonight. Many of the team are uncertain and fearful of what may be asked of them. Come Holy Spirit!

Come Holy Spirit of God, give boldness and courage to the Alpha team tonight, starting with me, that Jesus may be lifted up and all men drawn to him.
