Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.
Mt.7:7
Jesus entreats us to ask, seek, knock. Why? So God the Father can give us good things.
Queen Esther in today's first reading knew this. In grave peril it was all she had. In Luke's record of this teaching from Jesus he adds more detail to what the "good things" looks like. Not a thing but a person.
"How much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Lk.11:13
So, I'm not to hesitate in asking, seeking, or knocking. The Holy Spirit is just waiting for me to invite him in.
Come Holy Spirit. Fill the hearts of your faithful. Kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created, and you shall renew the face of the earth.
